Qld: New cyclone named off Queensland coast
BRISBANE, April 4 AAP - A third cyclone formed off Queensland's coast early today.
The weather bureau said Cyclone Vaughan was named at 4am today when it was 1,200 km
east-north-east of Cooktown and travelling at 15-20 kph.
The category one cyclone was not expected to cross the coast until later this week,
senior forecaster Gavin Holcombe said.
The cyclone comes just a day after Cyclone Tessi crossed the coast between Townsville
and Lucinda and a month after the history-making category two Cyclone Steve hit Cairns.
