Qld: MacArthur museum underway

Offices used by United States General DOUGLAS MACARTHUR in Brisbane to direct the war
in the Pacific in 1942 have been incorporated into a new museum to be opened to the public
in October.

Queensland Premier PETER BEATTIE used yesterday's 59th anniversary of the end of the
war in the Pacific to open the first stage of the MacArthur Museum in Edward Street.

He says the museum will be to Brisbane what the Cabinet War Rooms in London are to Britain.
